Although our your initial call was to do an emergency repair on our roof due to loose shingles damaged by the weather, your prompt, swift action has saved us countless dollars and possible further water damage to our house. Dear BUFFALO NEWS Editor:

Recently there have been news stories about local companies accused of “price gouging” during this winter’s severe weather. One of the companies mentioned is Collingwood Construction. We are writing this letter to present another side to the story.

Until early February, we had never dealt with Collingwood Construction. We had some ice dams and heavy snow on the roof of our house, and there was some melting ice entering via the drywall. We tried calling several different companies, and only one answered its phone with an actual “live person” named Angie! The rest either didn’t answer or had an answering machine. Angie reassured us that a crew would arrive within two hours. And, about an hour and a half later, the Collingwood crew of Tim and Dan arrived and went right to work on clearing the ice dams and snow from our roof. The price they charged was fair and in line with what other companies were charging. The two men worked without a break for at least two hours on our roof in very frigid conditions, and we were relieved that there was then no more water leaking into our house.

Larry Chumsky (the owner of the company) also arrived and checked the interior and exterior damage. Mr. Chumsky, like the other crew members, was very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. He quoted us a reasonable price to do the repair work to our house. When we submitted our insurance claim, our agent obviously agreed with the quoted repair cost because we received our check from the insurance company within a week.

So, again, we are writing simply to be fair and to present another side to this story. Based on our positive experience, we would certainly not hesitate to recommend the services of Collingwood Construction.
